Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems
What are CAHPS Surveys?
Every year, PCHC works with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to send surveys to patients to learn about their experiences with us. These surveys are called the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems or CAHPS for short.
In 2014, PCHC surveyed family medicine and pediatric patients that were seen between October 1st and December 31st. A total of 4,911 patients received CAHPS surveys and 32.7% or 1,605 people responded to those surveys. A total of 32,482 patients were surveyed in the state of Maine, so we can also compare how well we are doing to other practices in the state.
The surveys ask you how well your providers communicate with you, how courteous and helpful office staff are, and how quickly and easily you were able to get appointments or information you needed. Although many patients had good experiences with us, we know that we can do a better job getting you in when you want to be seen and a better job of getting answers to your questions and concerns. We value your feedback because it tells us what we are doing well and what we could do better. Using the information you gave us, we are working to bring you the best care and service.
