Please join me in congratulating our colleagues who have contributed significantly to our mission in 2020 and have earned the designation as the organization’s Employee of the Year.

Kim Dumala – Finance – Pandemic Response

Kim has been an incredible asset to PCHC, particularly over the last several months as she navigated numerous challenges with personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages and supply. Kim stayed calm, pushing forward to leverage vendors for supply procurement. Kim has built strong relationships with staff and vendors and does so with poise and professionalism.  She has shown a level of creativity and dedication that helped PCHC secure the resources we needed to keep staff and patients safe.  Kim is a perfect example of the dedication and grit it takes to come to work every day with a smile, and how that attitude has a ripple effect throughout the organization. Kudos Kim!

Carmen is patient-centered and is always willing to go the extra mile in order to achieve the best possible results for patients and the departments she supports. Carmen has played a pivotal role in the telehealth project in identifying the equipment needs for staff that are sent home to work remotely. She has been a key person in answering questions and troubleshooting issues with providers and staff across the organization and has created additional ways to improve efficiency. She created visual tools for the operation’s staff to follow the implementation of video, phone, and in-person visits at the organizational, site, and provider level which has led to performance improvement across the organization.

Barbie is extremely passionate about her job and performs it to the best of her ability. During COVID-19 Barbie was the only one working on her particular team while coming up with a new standard for specialty referrals during this difficult time. Every time she speaks with a patient she goes above and beyond to make sure they are helped and feel comfortable with any questions or concerns. She is a great patient advocate when getting benefits and authorizations and any information needed for the patient.

Ann is definitely someone that staff lean on in busy times. She always goes the extra mile for her patients. He does the same thing for all of the Brewer PCHC pharmacy patients as he will listen and do everything in his power to help every patient. He guides our Residents as professionals, managers, leaders, and compassionate pharmacists that take care of patients that need their help every day. Dennis makes the job fun and yet he works hard to have his staff deliver a pharmacy experience that benefits all of our PCHC patients and staff.

She truly embodies the PCHC mission vision and values ensuring that each patient that comes through the door feels heard and is treated with respect and dignity. She is trusted to be careful, thoughtful, and to catch patient care errors before they have the chance to occur. She is continuously looking for new solutions and opportunities to enrich both her teammates and patients’ experience at the Adult Wellness Center. Not even a worldwide Pandemic could slow down her energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to help her team and care for her patients!

Tuesday – Sept. 22

Kim is a perfect example of the dedication and grit it takes to come to work every day with a smile, and how that attitude has a ripple effect throughout the organization.

Ashley has really risen to the challenges faced over the last several months!  She is consistently doing what needs to be done to make the day go as smoothly as possible for the clinical staff in providing patient care.  Offering to lend a hand in whatever area she sees needs it.

Kristy’s tireless efforts to educate herself on the virus and the infection control recommendations from our governing bodies in order to advocate for, and ultimately create, the environmental changes we needed to safely return to work and increase our dental services were remarkable. Kristy spent hours researching and advocating for the PPE, air quality control, and disinfectants that we now use at the dental center. Kristy also kept all staff as informed as possible of the many changes that affected not only the small team providing the WIC services but also those furloughed at home. She never forgot those at home and communicated with them regularly via text, phone, and email, to help alleviate fear, spread encouragement, and prepare everyone for the future.

Mike respects the PCHC mission and has much respect for anyone he encounters. Mike not only serves as an X-ray technician but, works with staff and leadership to sort and document supplies and inventory. He is extremely passionate about his role and his work. If Mike takes on a task, he gives nothing less than 100%, every time. His work is clean and very detail-oriented. If there is anything Mike can assist with he will. He has new ideas and providers any tools or equipment he has to aid in the process. Mike works with his entire team from PSRs to MA’s to leadership. He assisted with a streamlined process for collecting data on inventory on a working spreadsheet.

Megan holds herself to a high standard when it comes to respecting our patients and our fellow employees. She is kind and considerate while upholding policy and procedure. Wally is a natural leader among all providers and support staff at Brewer Medical Center. He provides a calm, reassuring presence during even the most chaotic of situations. As the Covid crisis hit our communities, Wally established a self-care group for all of his co-workers to reclaim joy, navigate stress, prevent burnout, etc.  Wally is a treasured member of the BMC team.

Haley’s kind and compassionate manner, commitment to quality patient care, and ability to de-escalate and problem solve make her a highly regarded leader at BMC. Her colleagues note that Haley always puts patients’ needs first, has a passion for our PCHC mission, and supports the practice and her leadership team in a consistently professional and respectful way.

Holly is well-liked by all of her peers and I have often received emails from providers raving about her excellence as a team member and as a social worker. It is completely evident that her heart and soul is in her work as it is carried out every day

Trudy serves the mission by teaching others to be empathetic and to understand the patient’s obstacles. Observing her makes everyone around her challenge themselves to be more compassionate. And in a year, that has been full of change and obstacles, Trudy’s compassion and empathy are ever-so-important.

Ashley embodies the core values and mission of PCHC every day, in every way, during each and every patient encounter. With each interaction with her peers and colleagues, the nursing facilities we serve, and their staff members.
