Share The Health
As the calendar turns and we approach the holiday season, finding ways to cut through the stress and hustle and bustle of every day life is more important than ever. At PCHC we wanted to create a space to share resources on how to cut out stress from your life, from meditation to physical exercise, relaxation apps, and weekly affirmations, its time to “Share the Health” this holiday season.
Weekly Affirmations
Every week we’ll share a message of affirmation because sometimes all we need to keep going is a message of motivation, inspiration, or support.
We’re highlighting the importance of positive reinforcement and affirmation. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes.

No matter how challenging life can be, we all have things to be grateful for. Everyone is familiar with the saying count your blessings, and while it can be cliche, it’s true that reminding yourself of all the things you have to be grateful for is an excellent way to combat holiday stress and anxiety.

Technology can be a source of our stress each day. An endless stream of emails, text messages and phone calls can make anyone reach for the off button. But take a step into our Relaxation Shack as we share some apps that can help you breathe easier and find the calm in your day.
We start with an app from Smiling Mind about mindfulness that has a focus on stress, sleep, attention and concentration, and overall well-being. Using the app for just 10 minutes a day can make a difference. Check it out in the App Store and Google Play.
The American Heart Association published an article about how outdoor activity can help reduce stress and improve overall health. Let the Relaxation Shack share an app that can help you find the perfect hike for you.
AllTrails is a free application you can download to your phone which is a hiking database. You can search for hikes both locally and nationally, with the ability to filter them by ease, ranging from easy to hard. Users can leave reviews and pictures giving you a snapshot of what you’ll experience. You can find AllTrails on the App Store and Google Play.
In this edition of our #sharethehealth, we invite you back into the Relaxation Shack as we share a couple of meditation apps that can help cut through the stress this holiday season.
iSleep and Insight Timer provide guided meditations through your tablet or smartphone, to help you sleep or just provide relaxation.
Stress is an unfortunate part of life and can happen for many reasons. For a lot of people, holding in feelings or emotions is one of the main reasons stress builds up. One of the most effective ways to relieve that build-up is by expressing your feelings through journaling. For those of our technologically inclined followers we wanted to share an app called Penzu, which provides a free, customizable platform to journal. It can be accessed on all devices and provides an outlet for creative expression. You can download the app from the Apple App Stor or Google Play.
