Quirk Subaru Shares the Love with Hope House Health & Living Center
Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC)’s Hope House Health and Living Center was pleased to receive a generous donation of $34,500 from Subaru of America and Quirk Subaru as part of the 2017 Subaru Share the Love Campaign at a check presentation on Wednesday. From November 16, 2017 and January 2, 2018, Subaru of America and Quirk Subaru pledged to donate $300 for every new Subaru purchased or leased to PCHC’s Hope House and Living Center in support of those facing homelessness, food insecurity, and medical, mental health, and substance abuse issues in the greater Bangor region. In addition, Quirk Subaru hosted a “Fill the Forester” event, where customers and community members donated warm clothing items for guests, patients, and tenants of the Hope House.
Lori Dwyer, PCHC President and CEO, stated, “PCHC’s Hope House Health and Living Center was honored to be Subaru America and Quirk Subaru’s hometown charity as part of the 2017 Share the Love Campaign. PCHC is so proud to partner with Quirk Subaru to serve our community, positively impacting the lives of our friends and neighbors. Because of the generosity of Quirk Subaru and their loyal customers, the Hope House will be able to provide a warm bed, a hot meal, necessary medical and mental health care, and substance abuse disorder treatment to the many facing housing, food, and healthcare insecurities in the greater Bangor region. Quirk Subaru, and the entire Quirk family, are leaders in the community that make our work possible – we could not do what we do without loyal supporters like them.”
“Love. It’s What Makes a Subaru, a Subaru — and at Quirk Subaru, we want to Share the Love with everyone in our community. We are pleased to support the mission of PCHC’s Hope House Health and Living Center and to help their guests, patients, and tenants access the resources they need to lead productive and healthy lives,” said Jim Quirk, General Manager, Quirk Subaru.
Overall, Subaru of America, Inc. raised $21.8 million for national and local charities as part of the 2017 Share the Love event. In celebration of the campaign’s tenth anniversary and automaker’s 50th anniversary in the U.S., Subaru did not place a cap on total contributions to its Share the Love charitable partners for the second consecutive year. This year’s donations, along with a match of more than $2 million from Subaru retailers, brings the grand total amount donated throughout the life of the program to more than $118 million, exceeding the $115 million total estimate predicted at the launch of the 2017 Share the Love event.
Trip Gardner, MD, PCHC’s Chief Psychiatric Officer and Hope House’s Medical Director, spoke at the event to explain the significant impact this donation would have on guests, patients, and tenants. To watch his remarks, click here. You may also view the whole check presentation by clicking here.
