Barbara Vereault, DO, Named Maine Family Physician of the Year
PCHC’s Barbara Vereault, DO, was named the 2014 Maine Family Physician of the Year by the Maine Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP). Dr. Vereault was nominated by Dr. Vince Michaud of EMMC Husson Family Medicine and received the award at the MAFP Annual Meeting on April 10-11th. The award is given annually to a physician who provides his/her community with compassionate, comprehensive and caring medical services on a continuing basis, is directly and effectively involved in community affairs and activities that enhance the quality of life of his/her home area, and provides a credible role model as a healer and human being to his/her community, and as a professional in the science and art of medicine to colleagues, other health professionals and especially to physicians in training and medical students.
Barbara Vereault, DO, is PCHC’s founding physician and was clinical leader of PCHC since its inception in 1997 until July 2006. Dr. Vereault currently practices at Penobscot Community Health Center, 1012 Union Street, Bangor. She received her undergraduate degree from UMaine, her Doctor of Osteopathy from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her Family Practice Residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center. She is Board-Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
