This Wednesday – R(a)pelling Stigma – PCHC Goes Over the Edge for Recovery!

Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) has partnered with Over the Edge to bring a brand new event to Bangor this Wednesday. R(a)pelling Stigma is an adventure fundraiser featuring an exciting opportunity for members of the public to rappel down the Cross Insurance Center on Main Street and help r(a)pell stigma around substance use disorder! All funds raised will go to needed and necessary substance use disorder treatment and services within our local community.

The event will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 17 and will run throughout the day. The public is invited to cheer on rappellers, visit sponsor and educational booths, and enjoy food, games, and live music, as well as inspirational speakers. To secure their opportunity to go Over the Edge, each participating “Edger” needed to raise a minimum of $1,000. To make a donation to an “edger”, visit ote.pchc.com

PCHC also welcomes those who are not ready to go over the edge to stop by on Wednesday anytime between 10 am – 4 pm and make a donation to watch the rappelling from the Maine Savings’ “Chicken Coop”. 5% of the money raised will go to support the work of the Community Health Leadership Board (CHLB).

Finally, the day concludes at 4:15 pm with a celebration and program including Seth Blais, Addiction Speaker and Writer, Clare Davitt, Bangor City Councilor, Kara Hay, CEO, Penquis CAP, and Trip Gardner, MD, Chief Psychiatric Officer, PCHC. All are welcome to attend. On top of our speakers, VIP community rappellers include Cary Weston, Bangor City Councilor and Business Owner, Diane Dickerson, CEO, Bangor Y, and Sarah Smiley, Writer. They are scheduled to rappel at various times throughout the day.
