Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund Awards $15,000 to Jackman Community Health Center
Jackman, Maine— Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) is pleased to announce that the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund recently awarded a $15,000 grant to make heating and cooling system improvements (heat pumps) in newly renovated space at Jackman Community Health Center. Jackman Community Health Center (JCHC) is located at 376 Main Street, Jackman, and is staffed by Patricia Doyle, MD.
In order to better utilize the facility and lower operating costs, PCHC will be converting approximately 1,500 square feet into living quarters for per diem providers and other traveling staff when needed. In September 2017, PCHC was generously gifted the building by Maine General Health however the structure, originally built in 1967, has needed several upgrades to align building systems. Thanks to past funding from Weyerhaeuser and other grantors, PCHC has been able to make infrastructure improvements in certain portions of the building. This has allowed PCHC to re-purpose space allowing the health center to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Jackman Community Health Center is open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday, with extended hours until 7pm on Thursday, and also offers 24/7 after hours on-call acute care. The practice provides health care for over 1,000 patients with almost 4,000 patient visits each year and is the only primary care provider within 50 miles. The health center offers family medicine, mental health, X-Ray, laboratory, and pharmacy services, and 24/7 after hours on-call acute care. The practice joined PCHC in February 2014.
