Jackman Region Health Center Clinic To Join PCHC
The primary care practice at Jackman Region Health Center, located at 376 Main Street, Jackman, is joining the PCHC family on February 28th and will become Jackman Community Health Center. The providers the community knows and loves, Patricia Doyle, MD, and Anya Babiarz, PA-C, will continue to provide the same great care patients have come to expect, but now with expanded hours and access to additional services, including an Affordable Care Program (sliding fee scale).

Patricia Doyle, MD, states, “We are excited about the upcoming transition to become part of PCHC. We will not lose any of the services that we currently provide to the community and, in fact, expect to be able to offer more services over time as we become a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The people at PCHC are experts when it comes to FQHCs, and will lead us to taking advantage of all that this status has to offer, as well as guide us through all the complexities of the federal regulations involved.
I hope that anyone in the community who has questions or concerns about this process will feel free to contact us so we can help them understand what is happening. The doctor’s office, urgent care, lab services and x-ray service will now all be under PCHC, while the intermediate-care nursing home and ambulance service will stay under MaineGeneral Medical Center. This being said, there will be some shared services between the two organizations, in an on-going collaboration to provide the best medical care possible to this community.”
Steve Banahan, Board Director, states, “The Jackman Regional Health Center recently joined forces with Penobscot Community Health Care. PCHC has lent their vast experience and talents in helping JRHC attain Federally Qualified Health Center Status. This will secure Federal funds for the ongoing operation of the Health Center, as well as improve the level of payments from insurance companies. PCHC runs several health centers in the Bangor Area and in rural areas around Maine. They have family medical practices, as well as specialists in many fields, including Audiology, Podiatry, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Dentistry. This is a big step in guaranteeing the residents of Jackman and the surrounding Moose River Valley quality affordable health care for the foreseeable future.”
PCHC received grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support the New Access Point which will offer primary medical care and integrated mental health services, as well as dental hygiene to people of all ages regardless of ability to pay. Through the support of this federal grant, PCHC is able to preserve vital primary care and emergency health care services for the people of the Jackman region, whose nearest alternative for health care is over an hour away.
