PCHC Highlights Opioid Crisis Efforts at Annual Meeting – Bestows 2017 Dr. Robert P. Allen Quality Awards
PCHC hosted its Annual Meeting on April 4th at the Hilton Garden Inn, Bangor, with more than one hundred in attendance, including staff, Board Members, and community collaborators. The meeting highlighted the efforts of PCHC and the community in facing the opioid crisis with compassion. PCHC was honored to welcome keynote speaker A. Kathryn Power, M.Ed. Regional Administrator, Region One, of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), who spoke on regional and national efforts to address the Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) crisis.
PCHC also awarded fifteen of its annual Dr. Robert P. Allen Quality Awards during the event. The Dr. Robert P. Allen Quality Award is bestowed annually to an employee, department, or program demonstrating exceptional innovation, commitment to quality improvement, and excellence in patient care. In recognition and appreciation of their professionalism, leadership and courage to advance or provide compassionate care and treatment for persons with Opioid Use Disorder, the 2017 awards were presented to:
- David Loxterkamp, MD, Tim Hughes, MD, Mary Beth Leone, LCSW and Carol Kuhn, MD (Seaport Community Health Center);
- Stephanie Partridge, PMH-NP, Becky McMahan, LCPC, LADC, and Stephanie Riehl, PMH-NP (Penobscot Community Health Center);
- David Rawcliffe, DO, George Case, FNP-C, Jennifer Moss, MSW, LCSW, and Nathan McKnight, LCSW (Brewer Medical Center);
- Hope House Health & Living Center (Group Award);
- Controlled Substance Initiative (CSI) Committee (Group Award);
- Heather Blackwell, BS, CPC-A, Operations Project Manager (Administration); and
- Patty Hamilton, RN, FNP, Bangor Public Health Director, Community Health Leadership Board Chair.
